Over the years of building websites our team has noticed an interesting trend. Clients tend to have a hard time writing content to go on their new site. I know, it sounds like a simple little thing, but for most people, it isn’t. Trying to take the complexity of an organization and its services and summarize it well in a way that helps the reader is more difficult that many people realize.

And, not only it is often hard to get the content written, but its hard to decide what content needs to be written and what purpose it will serve. Content always seems really simple at first, but if experience has taught our team anything it is that it is not simple at all.

So, we decided to turn our client’s greatest weakness into a way that we can better serve them. Instead of pulling that old “web designer” trick of saying, “hey, send the content over when you have it, and we will drop it in”, we are working with our clients in helping them think through and develop their website content.

We don’t write the words, but we work with the client on the content strategy, asking what purposes the website content needs to serve. Then, we coach our clients through writing the content for the site, helping them to think through things that a website user will likely be wanting that the website owner may have never even thought about.

In a custom website design projet the content of the website is usually the weakest link in the process. We think it shouldn’t be that way. We want to make that part of the process easy and create a great experience for our clients in working on their website, and for their clients as they use the website!
