We are custom website developers, which means we are nerds that spend a large majority of our time sitting and looking at a computer screen. So, you might assume that we just love email, well, in making that assumption you would be right and very very wrong.

Things we like about email:

  • Its quick and easy for basic communication.
  • There is a “paper trail” of communication.

Things we don’t like about email:

  • Most miscommunications happen via email.
  • The tone of an email is often misunderstood.
  • Because email is quick and easy, often people don’t take the time to really express what they are thinking, making their emails muddled and hard to understand.
  • Sometimes is takes 15 emails to have full communication (both giving and receiving information) when a 2 minute phone call would have done the trick.

Our “official” stance on email.

We recognize that email communication is a necessary evil. But, while recognizing that we must use it, we also recognize that it is one of the lowest form of communication. So, when we communicate via email (daily) we keep our radar up, fully aware that miscommunication is likely and must be guarded against.

Other contenders for “lowest form of communication”

  • Smoke signals (HT: Aaron)
  • Facebook Messages
  • Text Messages
  • Shorthand
  • Pig Latin
