One month ago the first 48in48 wrapped up in Atlanta, so I wanted to reflect on the event and why our team got behind it to the degree that we did. When my friend Jeff first approached me about this idea I was hooked. 48in48 scratched an itch that I have been neglecting for too long, giving me an opportunity to give back to the community through digital marketing and event planning. So, founding 48in48 with him was an amazing opporunity I couldn’t pass up.
What is 48in48?
48in48 is about empowering communities to help 48 local nonprofits in 48 hours by assisting their marketing and technology efforts through hackathon-style events. Last month was the first event that was held in Atlanta. Sideways8 was able to support this effort by developing the brand, brand assets and website. I also helped plan the event from an operations and strategy standpoint.
What 48in48 Delievered
- 48 websites
- 4 logos
- 48 blog posts
- We refined and edited most of the content for most sites. Close to 100 pages of content.
- 2 in-person training sessions for the nonprofits on how to use the new site.
- Training on how to setup and use Google Grants.
- 6 to 12 months of hosting and support
Each nonprofit got $25,000 of value for a total value delivered of $1.2M over the course of the project!
Why Sideways8 got behind 48in48
Honestly, we got involved because it was worth getting behind and we wanted to give back. No one on our team hesitated to get involved and everyone located in Atlanta showed up during their off time to be part of the event. I love our team and their dedication to giving back!
Here is a great post by Jeff walking throught the event.
